26/04/2008 - winning the league

if you asked me when i started whipton youth that we the end of the season we would have gone 25 games unbeaten, semi-finals in the cup and win the league by at least 7 points i would have never believed it. over the last 12 months the team as change with  a few players leaving and few coming ending up with the squad i got now. its been hard work getting the squad to play my style of football and getting them to the peek in fitness. it seems so long ago now and couldnt have done it without the help of jamie and gary. i started coaching four years ago and never thought a get a group of boys who listen and learn and put 100% effort into everything i ask them and most of all make me the proudest coach in the league so i thank rob, callum, jake herbert, thomas, josh, leon, sam, kieran, brandon, lewis wartnaby, jake couch, daniel and lewis frost for doing this for me and i hope all of you can see how good you are as individuals also team player which is the most important a team can achieve anything if they work together as it shown this season. also i must thank your parents for there help during the season for bringing there sons training and matches every week and help setting up and packing away without this help i be there longer and even the odd tx message saying i love u ha ha. so hope i have your support for the next seasons to come and continue as manager of one of the best teams in the league.

thank you

08/03/2008 - reflection on the season & how proud of boys we are

considering it been over a year now since me and jamie broke away from beacon knights and started up whipton youth and was told that a wouldnt last 6 months at running a club or amount to anything we have proved them wrong. since we have started it as seen players come and go and new ones join at the present i have got one of the best set of boys and parents since i been running a local team in 3 years. i know that i may seem hard on them sometimes and work them hard but its all for there benefit me myself take my coaching serious and i would feel very upset if i didnt coach these boys to the best of my ability and let them down this season. i have seen players grow in there ability during the last year and the signings we have done mid season seemed to be working out great and theres a great team spirit throughout all the boys. the 1/4 finals of the cup showed me how determined the boys can be when really want something and didnt let there heads down when for the first time for ages we actually went 1-0 down and they found that spirit and team effort to go out and win comfortable. well done to all and wish you well for the rest and up and coming season its been a pleasure.

28/01/2008 - the club
well we passed the half way mark of the season and we are doing great with 13 wins and 1 draw that is some achievement considering its the first year and season of whipton youth. in the last few days i have time to reflect how far the club and team as come in such a small time, i got to admit lately the  hassles involved running the team gets abit to much sometimes but i have enjoyed starting the club but its all the work in the background that takes it toll aswell. its great having such a strong squad but a 9-a-side very hard to play most even though we try and at this part of the season do we really want to drop points or goals and ruin all the hard work in the first part of the season. there are more and more quality players wanting to join us and even though the ideal time would be at the end of the season we cant afford to turn them away now. overall its been great to see the like of jake c and callum and dan etc grow as players and the overall fitness of the team is one of the best in the league i know some games this might not show but overall we seem to pull things out of the bag when it counts like the cup game against pinhoe so they get the praise when due.

04/11/2007 - boys and parents conduct themselves well
i like to say a big well to the team on the way they conduct themselves on and off the pitch on saturday. what was always going to be an hard game and very physical the lads didnt let there emotions take over, they just shoke it off and got on with the game and continued to play excellent football. also i must say i was nice to see our parents grouped together and support every single player on the pitch and kept the boys going with cheers and welldones so i thank you all it was a pleasure to watch everyone having a good time.

28/10/2007 - whipton stay top after winning 7 out of 7
well it seems that all the pre-season work as worked as we have managed to go 7 games without defeat, its took alot of work for the boys to play the way there are playing and hopefully becoming one of the top teams in the league. as we dont wont to get carried away with this success praise is due and hopefully we can carry on the rest of the season in good form. well done boys lets keep focus and take game by game and hopefully lift the cup at the end of the year you deserve it.

25/09/2007 - the seasons here
well the start of the seasons here and our first saturday game against westhill was postponed untill the thursday night which meant we had 2 games without any training in between. its seemed that all the preseasons had help the boys and have settled down very quickly in the league with some great foootball being played by all, we have had 3 great wins to start the season but there is tougher competition coming up which will be a test for them and with everyone fighting for a starting position just makes them hungry more and as shown in the results and there have been a couple of players who have stepped up to the challenges put in front of them and now i believe are a much stronger player than before which is all in the development of becoming a great player.

05/08/2007 - end of tournaments
well the end of the tournaments as final come and to be honest its been along haul and fustrating times for all. the boys should be pround of there consitence in the tournament we finishing 3rd or going out in the 1/4 finals. i have seen some changes n the boys throughout some have improved amazingly and proved they are out to earn there place in there squad. well done boys now lets go win our league.

06/07/2007 - pre-season
with the tournaments nearly over its time to concentrate with the up and coming season. we are arranging a number of pre-season fixtures to get ready for the season. its important that we make full use of these and will give me and jamie time to tweak the team to what performs best. the children might get to play in areas they havent played before but be patient because we just trying different options before the season.

24/06/2007 - the boys played excellent at moors tournament

well this was our 5 tournament of the summer break and we didnt know what to exspect as the boys had played very well in the last tournaments but lack the goals. well today was different we managed to score 11 goals in 4 games and now one could score against us. it came down to penalties before we seen a ball touch the back of our net. all you boys should be proud what you achieved  today and never put your heads down, this is why we love this team on our day we are one of the toughest team to beat and proved it yet again. i got to amit there was a better atmosphere throughout the whole team and parents and i think it made the difference everyone wanted to do well and everyone did. we was glad to see the boys all get together when brandon missed his penalty it is one of the hardest thing a player can go through and without his team mates support can destroy a players confidence so thank you.

thanks boys you gave me and jamie an amazing day and we cann`t be prouder to be your managers keep this up and trophies will come.

well done!!!!!!

03/06/2007 - we did ourselves proud at tywford tournament
well what a difference there was in the team i think the boys learnt alot from topsham and showed why there are a force to be watched. the boys showed the fight throughout the games and everyone work as hard as everyone else. only losing one in 6 games is a good achievement and rob only letting 2 go pass him was excellent. dan and callum was outstanding in defence and the whole team work as a unit. see individual match reports for more info and scorers. well done boys we can only get better
